Priority 3

My Learning: Academic Excellence & Sustainability

Rigorous, engaging academics built on a foundation that lasts
Objective: Vilas School District will deliver consistent, rigorous, and engaging academics that prepare every student for their next chapter — while building an organizationally sustainable model that serves the community for generations to come.
Strategic Priority ThreeMy Learning: Academic Excellence & Sustainability
Why is this important?Strong academic foundations ensure that every student is challenged, supported, and continually growing, regardless of their starting point. Consistent curriculum and high-quality instruction provide students with the knowledge and skills they need while allowing learning to remain engaging, relevant, and responsive to individual needs.
Academic excellence also requires Vilas to use student learning data intentionally—identifying strengths, responding when students are not demonstrating growth, and providing appropriate challenge for students who are ready to move further. This aligns with the strategic plan’s goals for measurable NWEA and DIBELS growth, consistent K–12 curriculum maps, and a shared instructional framework.
At the same time, excellence must be sustainable. Vilas must build strong curriculum, instructional practices, student supports, staff capacity, and financial and organizational systems that do not depend on one person or a temporary initiative. Doing so ensures that students today—and future generations of Vilas students—have access to a rigorous, engaging, and supportive education.
Ultimately, students deserve both opportunity and strong academic preparation. The experiences provided through My Home and My Journey are strengthened by My Learning, ensuring students leave Vilas with the academic skills, confidence, and preparation needed for whatever comes next.
